Visa, Kuda partner to issue physical, virtual cards

Kuda Technologies says it has partnered Visa, a leading global digital payment company, to offer digital and physical Visa cards to its customers.

A company statement said the move was aimed at driving the firm’s independent payment cards offering.

The statement read, “Kuda’s proposition of zero fees on cards, account maintenance and transfers as well as its low-interest credit offering delivered conveniently through smartphones and the web have made it particularly attractive to the millennials, and the bank now has almost two million customers in its launch country, Nigeria, where it operates as Kuda Microfinance Bank under a licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The statement quoted the Chief Executive Officer, Kuda Technologies, Babs Ogundeyi, as saying, “Visa inspires confidence, and partnering with them to help us offer reliable card services independently has been one of our top priorities since Kuda launched in 2019. We’re proud that we’ve finally made this happen and we look forward to promoting cashless payments across Africa together.”

Also, the Country Manager, Visa Nigeria. Andrew Uaboi, was quoted as saying, “The rapid pace of technology innovation has driven a powerful shift in business and consumer expectations in financial services.”(Punch)
