The immediate past governor of Bayelsa State, Mr Seriake Dickson, has commended the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for appointing Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei as the acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission.
Dickson also commended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Godswill Akpabio, and congratulated the new NDDC acting MD on his appointment.
He described Pondei as “a hardworking professional” and urged him to use his wealth of experience to clean up the NDDC for optimum performance, in a statement by his media aide, Mr Fidelis Soriwei, on Sunday.
He stressed the need for Pondei to “focus attention on the failed policies, projects and wastage responsible for the failure of the commission to address the challenges of development in the region.”
The former governor enjoined the NDDC boss to collaborate with the governor of Bayelsa State and those of other Niger Delta states to actualise the objectives that inspired the establishment of the commission.
He said, “I call on Prof. Pondei whom I have always known as a competent and hardworking man to use his wealth of experience to sanitise the NDDC. As a Bayelsan, Professor Pondei is aware of the failed policies, projects and wastage which account for the under performance of the NDDC.”
