Aisha, wife of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has unveiled the clothing line for the 2020 Para Powerlifting World Cup, the Presidency said on Friday.
The competition scheduled for Abuja will take place from February 4 to 8 at the International Conference Centre.
“The clothing line is meant to kit the Nigerian contingent, including players and officials,” the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity (Office of the First Lady), Mr Aliyu Abdullahi, said in a statement.
Aisha is the Grand Patron and Brand Ambassador of the Nigerian team.
She said she was satisfied with the preparations so far, praising both the main and local organising committees for their efforts.
The National Lottery Trust Fund is the sponsor of the clothing line.
Its Executive Secretary, Dr Bello Maigari, told the session that part of the agency’s responsibilities was sports sponsorship.
Maigari thanked the athletes for the laurels they had won for Nigeria, attracting global attention to the country in the process.
He added that it was their efforts that won Nigeria the hosting rights.
The President of the Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation, Mrs Queen Uboh, informed the Buhari’s wife that the unveiling was part of the activities lined up ahead of the start of the competition.
