Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has donated relief items to residents of Kpakiama community in Bomadi Local Government Area and Ebedebiri in Sagbama Local Government Area of Delta and Bayelsa states respectively following flood devastation.
A statement made available on Friday by an affected resident of one of the communities, Mr George Tamuno, noted that the items distributed by Akpabio would cushion the effect of the flood.
The statement disclosed that Akpabio was moved by the extent of damage and the danger faced by the residents in the affected areas, adding that the intervention was a personal one by the minister.
Tamuno, who commended the minister for the kind gesture, said it came at the right time.
He said, “The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, in his capacity has demonstrated love to the people and communities ravaged by flood.
“The people are very happy to receive the relief items and also thank President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Akpabio to oversee the affairs of the region. We are very positive that under his watch a lot of good things will come to this region.”
