The Senate on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa as chairman and chief executive officer of the National Diaspora Commission.
Saraki had on November 6, 2018 read a letter from the President seeking legislative approval for the appointment.
Dabiri-Erewa, who is currently the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, was a member of the House of Representatives.
The Senate’s approval followed the adoption of the screening report by the Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations, which was presented by the Chairman, Senator Rose Oko.
Meanwhile, the Senate also on Thursday approved the appointment of a new Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig.-Gen. Shuiabu Ibrahim.
The clean bill of health was given based on the recommendation by the Committee on Youth and Sports Development, chaired by Senator Obinna Ogba, based on a resolution by the lawmakers to investigate the appointment.
