The Lagos State governor-elect, Mr Babjide Sanwo-Olu, has called on all Lagos residents to join hands with him in taking the state to the next level.
Sanwo-Olu, at an appreciation dinner organised by some of his supporters on Saturday, said the landslide victory recorded by the All Progressives Congress would not have been possible without the support of the people of the state.
“There is a lot of work ahead of us. Lagos truly needs to evolve more; it needs to unlock its full potential as the fifth largest economy in the continent. The current government has done a lot, but we are poised to taking it further.
“We want you to work with us. I assure you that our administration will be a government of the future,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The immediate past National Vice Chairman of the APC (South-West), Chief Pius Akinyelure, urged Lagos residents to pay their taxes for the smooth running of the state.
“The money from the Federal Government will never be enough to run a state like Lagos. But when citizens and companies pay their taxes, it will be easier for the government to execute projects that will impact on the lives of all residents,” Akinyelure said.
He also advised the governor-elect to run an all-inclusive government.
