The Chief Executive Officer of Solynta Energy Mr. Uvie Ugono
has said that the primary objective of the company is to displace the usage of
power generator in Nigeria and grant Nigerians stable electricity through clean
energy which is solar.
Solynta Energy, a solar power company has the passion to
provide every home and business in Nigeria with an affordable, reliable and
easy power solution.
In an exclusive interview with BRANDIFNO, Ugono said Nigeria
has the highest number of generators in Africa, emphasizing that about 72
percent of Nigerians generate electricity from generators.
He said in order for solar to become a mainstream product in
Nigeria it has to be financially affordable for people.
“Making solar financially affordable for people does not mean
it should be made cheaper, but it means people should be able to get it at
affordable price. The reason why solar is growing rapidly in the Western world
is because the banks are ready to lend money at low interest rate and there is
modality to pay it on a monthly bases over some years,” he said.
According to Ugono, Solynta Energy can give power to every single
home in Nigeria as long they are able to raise finance, adding that the
solution to epileptic power supply in Nigeria a very simple, but the execution
is where the challenge is because it requires a lot of financial investment.
He disclosed that Solynta Energy has installed about
1.2megawatt of solar system, saying that they have over 450 customers in
Nigeria.
“We are installing
about 50 solar systems on monthly bases. We focus on regular and consumer
market. We don’t really focus on government project or contract. We have
installation in 20 states in Nigeria. Lagos state is our biggest market. We
have installations in Abuja, Imo, Calabar, Kano, Ogun and Oyo state among
others,” he noted.
