The World Retail Congress has revealed the list of finalists for this
year’s prestigious World Retail Awards and, for the third consecutive
year, sees Nigerian retailer Jumia as a finalist. The winner of the 2013
Best New Retail Launch award, and nominee for last year’s CSR
Initiative of the Year, has been nominated for the 2015 eCommerce
Retailer of the Year.
The shortlisted entrants for the final two categories – Retail
Transformation of the Year, and Retailer of the Year – will be revealed
in the near future.
Now in its ninth year, the World Retail Awards are recognised as a
showcase for ‘retail excellence’. The awards attract entries from
hundreds of retailers from over 50 countries across the world and the
teams of expert judges have now selected the retailers they believe are
the most outstanding and worthy of a place in the final.
As in previous years, the shortlisted finalists have been drawn from
an extremely competitive standard of entry. The finalists will all be
reviewed by a Grand Jury of senior retailers and sector experts* who
will meet shortly before the Congress commences, to decide on the
ultimate winners in each category. The winners will be announced at the
Closing Ceremony and Awards dinner taking place at the Waldorf
Astoria
Rome Cavalieri, Rome on Thursday 10th of September.
Ian McGarrigle, Chairman of the World Retail Congress, said: “We are
delighted at the number of entrances in each category. Once again the
calibre of finalists is exceptional with fantastic representation across
the retail environment. It will be another difficult decision choosing
the ultimate winners in each category and we are extremely grateful to
everyone who has entered.”
