World’s famous energy drink, Black Energy Drink, is set for official
launch in the Nigerian market, BRNAND INFO has gathered. As a
prelude to the presentation, owners of the energy drink are said to be
scouting for notable advertising and public relations agencies to handle
the brand’s integrated marketing communications needs.
At a time most consumers are shifting their attention to healthy
drinks as against carbonated or caffeinated ones, Black Energy Drink, is
coming to compete with the likes of Power Horse, London Best, Red Bull,
Spark, Monstar, Bullet and Hippo among others. Currently, Black En-ergy
Drink from the stable of FoodCare is present in 39 countries.
Checks revealed that in Poland, for instance, Black Energy Drink
maintains its leadership in the energy drinks market. For over a year,
the brand has been ahead of the competition in terms of the number of
drinks sold. Experts attributed the increase in popularity and sales to
extensive advertising activities carried out almost incessantly
throughout the year.
Though FoodCare will be taking advantage of the country’s huge
population to sell the brand, the growing apathy towards energy drinks
and a warning from the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration
and Control may be a hard nut for Black Energy Drink to crack. NAFDAC
had raised the alarm over the proliferation of energy drinks in the
country.
Noting that the influx of the so-called energy beverages in various
flavours into the country had become worrisome, NAFDAC posted a message
on its official Facebook page, warning consumers of such drinks –
presumed to be designed for athletes and individuals, who want an extra
energy kick – that they were being deceived into taking high levels of a
stimulant known as caffeine.
