In a move aimed at re-jigging its brand essence in the
marketplace , the management of Bharti Airtel, owner of a major telecom
company, Airtel is set to organize a fresh account review. The pitch which will
be coming up soon will feature two old hands alongside the fastest growing
advertising agency in Nigeria, Noah’s Ark. The two old hands that will be
competing include; Centrespread and STBCann.
It would be recalled that the account became a serious issue
of contention after the owner decided it was ready to sever its long existing
relationship with Prima Garnet which later resulted into a protracted crisis.
Centrespread and STB McCann, being incumbents on the Airtel Nigeria account, will now be joined by the youthful Noah’s Ark
to compete for the warehousing of the creative account according to industry
sources recently.
The account had became contentious in 2013 with repeated
visits to the court of law before it
rested apiece at highly experienced and ‘good-on-the-game’ Centrespread and STB
McCann. A Lagos High Court presided over by Justice Grace Onyeabo had granted
an interim injunction halting the pitch process organised by the telecoms giant
brand.
Current call for pitch may finally find a house of peace,
progress and prosperity for the brand that has seen so many change of name that
subsumed its vibrant brand building effort in the past.
BRAND INFO gathered that the PR account which was once
domiciled in Blueflower moved to CMC Connect, a home where the managing
director of the telecoms brand may feel more comfortable as the client and
agency, Chief Executive Officer of CMC Connect, Mr. Yemi Badejo-Okusanya and
Chief Executive Officer of Airtel, Mr.Taiwo Ogunsanya appear to have built long
standing relationship over the years.
